We first met Carla on set of our Summer '20 Campaign. The young Sydney based, Leo, songwriter has an instantly likeable energy and one that makes you feel at ease. She has a new EP HALF PAST NINE OUT THIS FRIDAY, DEC 4. The EP has tinges of 80's nostalgia but explores the complexity of the human condition with a very now sentiment called empathy.

HOW HAS 2020 BEEN FOR YOU AS AN ARTIST? HAVE THERE BEEN ANY POSITIVES CREATIVELY?

2020 has had it's downs but suprisingly it's given me the opportunity I may not have had otherwise, to work on developing my skill set, learn new ones and also just grow as a person, which has actually helped me on the artist side as well :)

WE LOVE YOUR SONG "LOVE ME FOR ME." WHAT WAS THE MOST REWARDING OR ENLIGHTENING THING ABOUT MAKING THE SONG AND ACCOMPANYING FILM?

The song came about at a rough time in my life mental health wise, so it was an expression of what I was feeling, but after writing it, I realised that it's not only me that feels these things and the potential for this song to help someone or make them feel less alone was a great feeling.

The most enlightening thing about making the video for me was the realisation of the universal desire that connects us all as humans - wanting to be loved for who we are. It was so inspiring to hear people's stories and it was fun to be on the other side of the camera. 

 

WHAT'S INSTORE ON YOUR NEW EP 'HALF PAST NINE' OUT DEC 4?

 Two more songs that live in the same world as the other two - modern pop with some of the 80's influences that I love! There also might be a bonus track which I co-produced (first time doing that) with my great friend Xavier Dunn. 

Also possibly a music vide or some sort of visual!

WILL YOU BE HAVING ANY GIGS TO PROMOTE IT?

I sure will! I have a few support shows which I'm looking forward to BUT I'm currently in the middle of putting together my first show which we are going to put on in a skate park.

Super Bowl (not sure how far into the future haha) 

WHAT'S OVER THE 2020 RAINBOUU FOR YOU?

TRAVEL (hopefully), visiting my friends overseas, making music in different countries. Just exploring more of our amazing planet :)
