Meet Rainy. Singaporean born now Sydney based, model and ceramicist. Launching her new website this month, Rainy has been creating some of our favourite new homewears. Here she talks with us about growing up, films, the beginning of ceramics, travel and rainbouu intentions <3
DID YOU GROW UP IN SYDNEY?
I was born in Singapore and grew up between there and Malaysia till I was 13 when I moved to Sydney. I have been here ever since.

IN A YEAR OF TOO MUCH FILM AND TV WHAT WERE YOUR FAVES?
I really enjoy watching Asian films, so movies like Sonatine, and God of Cookery (both complete opposites) are my favourite. I don’t watch a lot TV but when I do I normally opt for a docuseries or cooking show (I love cooking shows). Programs like Ancient Aliens (lol), No Reservations, and Iron Chef are an easy way to past time.
WHEN DID YOU START WORKING WITH CERAMICS?
I started doing ceramics as a spur of the moment idea with a friend who was leaving about 3 years ago. When I first started it was on the wheel and I couldn’t make anything - all I could throw was a donut, which I never went back to trim as I was so embarrassed. But ceramics is a skill and you can better skill yourself!
DO YOU FOLLOW ANY CERAMICISTS WHOSE WORK YOU PARTICULARLY ADMIRE?
I may be biased, but my boyfriend’s ceramic mushrooms (comfyshrooms) I think are amazing! Also artists like Ryan Hancock, Ruby Roseneri, Catherine Murray, and Ron Nagle are always very inspiring.

WITH OVERSEES TRAVEL OFF THE CARDS FOR A WHILE ARE THERE ANY PLACES YOU REALLY WANT TO VISIT IN AUSTRALIA?
Would love to visit Central Australia! I haven’t travelled anywhere outside of the east coast, so heading more inland would be beautiful to check out. Australia is so vast and has so much to offer, so this is a good opportunity to explore it all!
